Another fun weekend
This weekend we went to two new places. Saturday, we saught after some easy, but nice hiking and looked through our guide book for "easy" and "4 star". We ended up at the intersection of Alpine Rd and Skyline Blvd and Russian Ridge. We did the Bay Area Ridge Trail, going up Borel Hill, where we saw a beautiful view of the entire Si Valley. Shelby liked looking at the airplanes and birds most. We continued down the hill with Shelby on Jon's back, but soon she wanted to walk. She did a great job, although she slipped a lot with her stylish pinl shoes. She was holding both our hands the whole time. We figure she walked between 1/4 and 1/2 mile on her own. We were quite impressed! She saw her first real lizard. We then cut back on Mindego Ridge, then Ancient Oaks back to the parking lot.
overall the hike was just OK. The only really nice part was Ancient oaktrail which cut through an old Oak tree forest. We saw lots of squirrels (Chung-see) and some blue jays. After we got back to the parking lot, Shelby had an energy spurt for some unknown reason (do you think the cookies could have done it?) She was really funny litteraly running in circles. She fell a couple times and scraped her knees. Oweee.
We ended up in Los Gatos Roasting company (in Los Gatos) for some pastries and iced coffee. On our way out, Shelby wanted to sit outside on the bench. OK, so we did. And I am very thankful to her, because just 5 minutes later, I saw one of the most spectacular sites which I may never see again..... a 2005 Mercedes SLR McLaren. This is a half-million-dollar supercar that has 617HP, and more luxury items than you could ever imagine... see for yourself: http://www.mbusa.com/brand/models/SLR.jsp
I diverge.... Nothing special the rest of the day. Sunday, we started with a trip to Peet's coffee for somee latte's and pastries, then headed to our local park for some swinging, sliding, and choo-choo riding. headed back home for lunch, laudnry, etc, then went to Ardenwood Farm in Fremont, CA. it's a pretty large farm, with a few things to do. Shelby had a great time looking at peacocks, chickens, turkeys, sheep, horses, cows (including a 2 week old calf), pigs, goats, and bunnies. We saw some blacksmiths working, but the highlight was clearly the horse-drawn choo-choo ride. Shelby of course loves choo-choo's and loves riding on them even more.... We ended the day with a trip to Fresh Choice for dinner. We're all stuffed and tired, but content. Good night!

Nice to know that Shelby can walk so long. I think she can still do longer walks.
Say something about Eva and Jon. With a toddler and a babdy expected, I am sure there is mix of hapy and hard times.
